Our History
Acacia Apothecary and Wellness is a family-owned compounding pharmacy. Justin and Heather Brock opened their first pharmacy location in 2014 with the goal of helping our patients achieve the best possible outcomes through working closely with their physicians to customize their medication and medication delivery. What started with just Heather, Justin, and Melissa grew quickly to add Amy and then Marcella before the first year was finished. In the years since, we have grown to a staff of over 15. Each of our staff brings their own strengths and approaches to how we care for our patients and providers. Read more about each of them in their bios.

Madai, a Tucson native, became a Certified Pharmacy Technician in February of 2019, joining Team Acacia in April. Madai’s first experience with Acacia Apothecary was when she was placed here for her externship in 2018 through Pima Medical Institute. Before joining Team Acacia, Madai worked in a pharmacy which specialized in long-term pharmaceutical care for Tucson’s geriatric population. What Madai loves most about being a pharmacy technician is “expanding [her] knowledge about medications which are used to promote patient health and well-being”. On Madai’s free time, she enjoys curling up with her Chihuahua and binge watching a good show on Netflix. She is fluent in English and Spanish, giving her the ability to assist with our patients in either language.
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. Before joining in Acacia in July 2021, Val worked various pharmacy type jobs after graduating high school in 2014, first as an entry-level job and after becoming pharmacy technician trainee in 2018 including retail, call center and prior authorizations. Val decided to further her education in the pharmacy field by enrolling in Pima Medical Institute in 2019 and graduated with honors and became PTCB certified in July 2020. While not at work, she enjoys reading books, painting/crafting and spending time with her husband, dog Loki, and cat Banshee.
Stephanie moved to Tucson in June 2021, after growing up and spending most of her life in Rochester, NY. She began compounding in 2015 in the sterile compounding suite at the University of Rochester Medical Center. With a love of compounding and a desire to branch out into nonsterile compounding, she found a perfect fit at Acacia Apothecary and Wellness. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys arts and crafts, and spending time with her two kitties: Louie and Charlie.
Denise joined the Acacia team in February 2020. Originally from Michigan, Denise and her family moved to Tucson when she was 8 years old. She has been a pharmacy technician since 1990. Her pharmacy experience includes retail, long term care, mail order and management, including 15 years at compounding pharmacies. Denise is licensed in the state of Arizona and is PTCB certified. “Having extensive experience with special needs patients, it is important to me that we are able to provide custom dosages and administration methods that would otherwise not be available.” Outside of work, Denise enjoys her fiancé, son, two dogs and CrossFit.
Marcella joined team Acacia as the second pharmacy technician in October 2014. She has been a pharmacy technician since 2010 and her experience includes working at a specialty pharmacy as well as within the Arizona AIDS Drug Assistance Program. Since working at Acacia, she has learned the technique and art required in making every compounded medication. “I like the fact that we construct a medication completely custom to that patient or animal. Putting on the lab coat and making medication from scratch, it gives you a sense of pride because…we made that.” Outside of work Marcella enjoys dominating escape rooms, reading, board games, and trivia nights with her besties.
Melissa is an original member of the Acacia team as she joined on opening day in May 2014. Coming with a six-year background from a Specialty Compounding Pharmacy, with a PCAB Accreditation, she was ready to contribute all prior knowledge into helping build Acacia. “I truly enjoy providing support in creating custom medications for patients who struggle to find exactly what they need and want. Everybody deserves quality and care, and that is what we deliver at Acacia.” In Melissa’s free time she puts her Music Production degree to work by making soundtracks for local businesses. She enjoys playing soccer, trying out new craft brews, and relaxing with her wife and fur babies.
Connor joined the Acacia team in August 2021. He is currently a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Arizona. What I like about compounding pharmacy is that we can make patient specific medications that aren’t commercially available to better treat our patients. When Connor has free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, being active and watching movies.
